It's a holiday weekend, even though it isn't really? Fourth of July going up on a Tuesday, weird. And the Mariners are on a road trip, even though also, kind of not really. After a fairly deflating week where the team had two off days and lost twice to the lowly Phillies, the Mariners will look to struggle back up towards the apex of Mount Five Hundred for, I don't know, the bazillionth time this season. Luckily it’s only three games and then they’re back in the friendly confines of Safeco again.
The Angels are still without Mike Trout and have an injury-riddled rotation again, but the rest of the lineup is pulling together to keep the team competitive. They'll present a challenge for Miranda, who will need to be able to command his pitches against an aggressive-swinging lineup. Conversely, the Mariners' offense, which hasn't showed an ability to capitalize on struggling pitchers not named Joe Musgrove, will need to take any opportunity the often-inconsistent Bridwell offers. This would be a great night for Nelson Cruz to remember how much he likes hitting home runs.
Tonight's game is on the usual channels—ROOT NW, 710 ESPN—but it's also being streamed on Facebook: https://t.co/QJzlPYSPEw. Hooray for streaming options, I guess?
Reminder that tomorrow is softbaLL! Come work out your frustrations about the team with us.
