The Mariners try to get over the hump and Andrew Moore makes his MLB debut

Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

Good evening, and happy Thursday! In a shocking twist, the Mariners did not make a transaction today. Well, actually, that's sort of not true. Tyler Cloyd cleared waivers and was outrighted to Tacoma, but that doesn't really count. All of the same players that were in the clubhouse yesterday are still there today! That has to lend itself to a heightened sense of security, right?

Not only do the Mariners have a chance today to climb over .500, but with the Twins losing big and Tampa and Boston on days off, they have a chance to inch within one game of the Wild Card. Some might say it's way too early to be scoreboard watching. Those people probably have more interesting lives than me.

The other exciting thing about today is that Andrew Moore starts and makes his Major League Baseball debut today! Kate and John had a great piece on Moore yesterday, which I recommend reading if you want to know what he could bring to the table.
