Despite last night's loss, the Mariners have put together a refreshingly productive homestand, riding hot bats and serviceable starting pitching to a record of 7-3. It'd sure be swell to reclaim Safeco from the Canadian Invasion and get back to .500 this afternoon. And who better to make it happen than the Big Maple himself.
James Paxton was not especially sharp in his last outing (by his standards), surrendering his first homer of the year (it's all relative, people), but still picked up the win thanks to some serious offense.
Meanwhile, former Mariner and current Blue J.A. Happ is coming off a 20-win season, but has yet to find his groove here in 2017. Surrounding a stint on the DL due to elbow inflammation, Happ has struggled with the long ball, and is yet to pick up his first W of the year.
Oh, also there's this:

Go Pax. Go Mitch. Go M's. It's time to send those Molson-drinkin', denim-wearin', ice hole-fishin', oppressively pleasant people back north disappointed.
