The long-lost Grimm Brothers tale of The Bear and the Shoemaker

The void stares back
The void stares back
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Hey. Are you still here? Good for you. I don't blame anyone who has peaced out on these first few games, as for life reasons/mental health reasons I've had to take a couple days off from watching the games closely, but I am here today, your partner in the grind. Today is a gray-ish day here in Seattle but the sun is trying to break through. That sounds like a metaphor, right?

Today's Lineups

SEATTLE MARINERS LOS ANGELES ANGELS
Jean Segura - SS Yunel Escobar - 3B
Mitch Haniger - RF Kole Calhoun - RF
Robinson Cano - 2B Mike Trout - CF
Nelson Cruz - DH Albert Pujols - DH
Kyle Seager - 3B Andrelton Simmons - SS
Danny Valencia - 1B C.J. Cron - 1B
Leonys Martin - CF Ben Revere - LF
Carlos Ruiz - C Danny Espinosa - 2B
Taylor Motter - LF Carlos Perez - C
Hisashi Iwakuma - RHP Matt Shoemaker - RHP

Shoemaker is arguably the best pitcher the Mariners will face in this three-game stint, so I am already mentally preparing myself for 1-6 heading into Opening Day. Some things I'll be watching for: Segura at leadoff, how many bases get stolen on Carlos Ruiz, and oh hi first start for Taylor Motter as a Mariner.
That's all I got. Today doesn't seem bright. I do feel confident, however, in predicting the Mariners will not go 1-161. And I also feel confident that this video, if you haven't seen it, will absolutely make you smile. We'll get through this.
