Hello, friends. Happy Friday. I imagine most of you are feeling a bit better about the Mariners this morning compared to how you were feelin’ Tuesday night. These last two games (thanks in large part to some pretty spiffy starting pitching performances) have been pretty fun. On that note, today’s Sprocle is going to concentrate on some happy Mariners memories.
Today’s quiz asks you to name all of the starting pitchers in M’s history who managed to accumulate an fWAR of at least 1.0 before the end of the first month of a season. This feat has been accomplished 19 times by 11 different pitchers. I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few people got 18 out of 19 (or even perfect scores!) on this Sporcle; if you’ve been an M’s fan for any length of time you’ve probably heard of all of these players. Instead of trying to stump y’all, this quiz is mostly intended to highlight just how impressive Big Maple Jimmy has been so far this year.
