Your Seattle Mariners, and they are yours, have their first home game of the season today. It is the first game of the season that the Mariners are favored in by FiveThirtyEight, intriguingly. They face an Astros team coming off narrowly avoiding a sweep at the hands of the Royals. Excitingly, the Mariners will miss Dallas Keuchel and Lance McCullers in this series. Today's game will feature pomp, circumstance, and James Paxton against Charlie Morton. This matchup almost worked out well for the Mariners last time, but they fell in 13 innings because YOUR Seattle Mariners look at the paths more and less traveled and choose instead to walk into a tree sometimes.
Come on, get up ya big lugs. We've got miles to go before we sleep.
Carlos Beltran has yet to walk in 25 plate appearances this year, which is unlikely to continue, but is a neat thing, I suppose.
More importantly:
Assuming I have math'd correctly, Mitch Haniger is currently on pace for ~69 home runs and ~6.9 fWAR
