Today Yovani Gallardo will make his second start of spring training, and it wouldn’t take much for it to be better than his last one. This will be his last start before he leaves the Mariners to compete for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. Also making their final appearances for a while are Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz, and Jean Segura.
One of the more exciting aspects of today’s game is that James Paxton will be making his spring debut.
James Paxton will make spring debut today with 2 innings in relief of Gallardo. Paxton then scheduled for first start Thursday at Cubs.

Lineups
NRI Tyler Smith will get the start for Kyle Seager. Of more interest is whether Tyler O’Neill can get on track. O’Neill’s spring has been less than fantastic so far, as he has struck out six times in 16 plate appearances. Jon Gray is coming off of a scoreless spring debut for the Rockies, and looks to build off of his productive 2016. The Rockies lineup looks like their Major League lineup with the exception of former Baseball America Top-100 prospect Tom Murphy, who had his 2016 derailed by an oblique injury suffered during spring. Because every team the Mariners face needs a former Mariner, the Rockies will also be starting Chris Denorfia.
