Things really took a turn last night after Yuli Gurriel was caught on camera in the dugout making a slanted-eye gesture of sorts after hitting a home run off Yu Darvish. Many hoped he would miss today’s game at least, but nope:
Yuli Gurriel avoids World Series suspension, wil serve 5 games in 2018 after meeting with Rob Manfred https://t.co/gYNyH2oHux

It’s....a wildly complicated situation that I don’t think I can’t fully get into here on a game thread intro, but suffice to say it was an enormously stupid and shitty thing for Gurriel to do.
But also, part of me feels a deep and satisfying sense of schadenfreude knowing that Houston’s World Series experience will now be forever tainted by a racist gesture. I am petty like that when it comes to divisional rivals.
But man, stop being so dumb, 2017. Let us have some nice things, please.
