Today I opened the game threads widget and saw, for the first time, just three little games left against a ton of white space, and something about that was so visually arresting it felt like a punch in the stomach. This is it for the regular season, and barring some heroics from our new favorite teams the Yankees, Red Sox and Braves, this will be it for the season, period. Just these three games. Let's all of us make the most out of them before we have to box up baseball for the season and put it away in a closet to dream towards the warmer months.

I hope none of you need this info because you will all be at the game tonight. The Yankees broadcast shamed us for only having 19,000 last night, which was embarrassing. But then again, if I was sitting in a cold, wet sandbox made of concrete, I'd be grumpy and lashing out too.
