Merry Sweepmas! As Isabelle discussed in last night's recap, the Brewers are a baseball team with very few strengths right now. That does not mean when the Mariners beat them that it is meaningless, since to be a good team you have to beat the worse teams, unless you are the Texas Rangers. For the most part, though, winning these games against struggling teams gives the M's a chance to compete in the great game, so hopefully that can continue against Matt Garza today with Ariel Miranda on the mound. Garza is probably the most nationally recognizable member of the Brewers rotation, and has looked...meh this year after missing the first couple months with a lat strain. An xFIP of 4.95 in 12 starts and a K/9 of 5.01 that is more than two below his career average, however, make Garza appear to be fairly vulnerable.
Thanks to Félix's vintage performance last night and a nice batch of insurance runs, the bullpen should be rested and able to help Miranda should he struggle to go deep in the game. I am looking forward to seeing him go six innings or more, but it wouldn't be disastrous if he couldn't.
I've done something wrong and do not deserve to go to a game where Mike Zunino is starting, apparently, but if any of ya'll are at the game and see a large bearded person in a white and purple M's hat, feel free to say hi!
