'Tis August, and the Mariners team looks much the same as it did in July, which is bad for entertainment. The people demand trades, and so many of them. All of them, in fact. Alas, Jerry Dipoto works in mysterious ways, and he does not always oblige our whims. Tonight the club will try to scrub the taste of Sunday Night Baseball from our mouths like they did in Silkwood. Literally; they will literally come to your place of being and do that.
Mariners Ace James Paxton takes the hill against the Red Sox, whose fans come to our fair city and take over Safeco field like the virus they are. Dr. Paxton will attempt to destroy the corruption with his P-cells and his curveball, aka The Medicine. Five scoreless innings could bring Big Pax's ERA below 4.00 on the year, which would be cool.
Boston's countering with a left-hander of their own, sending Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound. Rodriguez despises grounders, and his 6.51 ERA and 2.30 HR/9 reflect this. Rodriguez has been better as of late, though, posting a 3.06 ERA in a trio of July outings.
Elsewhere, the Astros host the Blue Jays and the remainder of the division has the night off.
