One more for the road, they said. Let's see what the M's have in store for us today:

Today's Lineups

SEATTLE MARINERS KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Ketel Marte - SS Whit Merrifield - 2B
Seth Smith - LF Salvador Perez - DH
Robinson Cano - DH Kendrys Morales - 1B
Nelson Cruz - RF Brett Eibner - RF
Kyle Seager - 3B Cheslor Cuthbert - 3B
Adam Lind - 1B Paulo Orlando - CF
Chris Iannetta - C Alex Gordon - LF
Leonys Martin - CF Alcides Escobar - SS
Shawn O'Malley - 2B Drew Butera - C
Mike Montgomery - LHP Dillon Gee - RHP

Starting for the good guys this morning will be Mike Montgomery, who is apparently stoked to be facing the team who drafted him back in 2008. Facing him on the other side of the lineup card will be another long reliever/sixth starter, Dillon Gee, who last started on May 31st while covering for injured Royals starters Chris Young and Kris Medlen. Whatever you do don't go look at his game log page on fangraphs unless you want to relive the horror of this team's starting rotation over the past couple of months and realize that yes, indeed, literally everyone has it better. The grass actually is greener on the other side, it is, I checked.

In a few hours we will finally get a brief vacation from this game of emotional ping pong we've been subjected to over the past couple of months. Pour yourself a cup of coffee--or if that first sentence resounds strongly then I won't judge you for cracking a beer--and let's bring this first half to a close. Goms.
