6/5: Open Game Thread

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

This series hasn't been a bundle of joy, but perhaps the Mariners can salvage things somewhat by avoiding the sweep today and get some revenge later this week when the Rangers come to our house and the reinforcements arrive.

On the hill today for the Mariners is Hisashi Iwakuma and his high homer rate. Iwakuma's ERA currently sits at a bleh 4.41, and his WHIP is not only above 1.06 for the first time since 2012, it's a whopping 1.31. Kuma's velocity has been trending upward as of late, but he's still barely touching 90, so it's not great times. The Rangers are starting Dutch sensation Derek Holland, who isn't striking anyone out this year, so this could be interesting.
