Hello sports gals and guys, how are you doing? Rested? Relaxed? In the market for some RANGER BLOOD? (Editor's note: Meg is very tired from staying up until 2 am re-watching The Greatest Comeback in Mariners History and is pretty loopy. She has been warned not to make the recap too crazy. We apologize if and when she fails to heed that warning.)
The day after The Greatest Comeback in Mariners History, said Mariners will take on Yu Darvish and the Rangers in the first of a three game set for primacy in the AL West, respect, and justice. We've got Cano! We've got Seager! We've got Dae-Ho Lee and Adam Lind! We have Norichika Aoki in center field (that part is less fun).
In his first start back from Tommy John surgery, Darvish fanned seven and allowed one run against the Pirates. Or, this:
That doesn't look like fun. Hopefully the Mariners offense didn't use up all their runs in The Greatest Comeback in Mariners History.
On the mound for the Mariners is up-and-down starter Taijuan Walker, who looked pretty bad against a pretty bad Twins' team his last start out. Here's hoping that Taijuan's June looks a lot more like April's 2.13 FIP than May's 6.44 FIP. Let's hope the Mariners light up Darvish, and get to the Rangers leaky bullpen. Let's hope the ball is not hit anywhere in Aoki's general direction.
Also:
Leonys Martin ran on the field for the first time since the hamstring injury. At about 70% and all went well. Will run again tomorrow.
