Well shoot, after losing a tough series in Boston, and now maybe Taijuan Walker to a foot injury, the Mariners still have to ahead and play another baseball game today. Our beloved band of highly compensated professional athletes finds themselves in Detroit, opposed by an even more highly compensated set of professional athletes, as Mike Ilitch continues to stock Comerica Park with decades long contracts like Mad King Aerys with his Wildfire. One day, the Tigers' flesh will be burned off, and they will scream for mercy, but the payroll will grant no quarter, and will drag them, still burning, to hell.
BUT, for now, they remain a flawed but very potent offensive baseball team. As always Jake did an excellent job with the preview if you're looking for a good breakdown of who, what, where, why, and how.
The month of June has been absolutely brutal for the Mariners, and with the Rangers building an 8.5 game lead, seemingly overnight, it's time to focus on the Wild Card. If the Mariners can win the series in Detroit, thet return to Seattle for the final homestand in this miserable month, and hopefully can begin healing up and/or acquiring outfielders who aren't Norichika Aoki.
In good news, they finally let Felix out of that damn boot, and sounds that it's more likely than not that Felix makes his first start back after the All Star Break. Until such a time as I have evidence to the contrary, I will assume his time on the DL has magically healed all of his maladies and he will be The King Reborn, and consume and smite his enemies with holy fire.
Lots of fire and death in this game thread, hurm. Seems it's Monday.
WIN, YOU FAITHLESS WANDERERS!
