After a well timed day off to enjoy the bounty of Tampa Bay the Mariners are back in action against the Fighting Brad Millers. Taijuan Walker is on the hill and looking to establish something resembling some consistency. His last start was excellent. The two before that were ok, then another good start, then three ok starts and a terrible one.... It's like Walker is a highly talented but unfinished player prone to bouts of consistency with stuff and command at an early age.
Starting for the Rays is Jake Odorizzi, who is one of the many useful baseball players assembled in Tampa using the assembly line they bought off of Oakland a few years back. Fortunately for the Mariners, and you, as you are theoretically a fan of the Mariners, is that Odorizzi is right-handed, and the Mariners crush right-handed pitching.
The lineup features a full armed and operational Mariners Station, and the closest thing the team has had to their Opening Day look for over a month. Here's to hoping good Taijuan shows up, and that Nelson Cruz and Robbie Cano each hit a floater.
Win, ya merry band of ragamuffins.
