Hello and happy Friday to those of you working for the weekend, and hi and hang in there to those of you who work while others play. Tonight the Mariners will look to bounce back from last night's defeat, but they face a steep challenge in the red-hot, first-place Texas Rangers. Tonight's lineup is Beltre-free, after he was diagnosed with a minor hamstring strain, and with Felix also on the DL, we might be robbed of some of our sideline entertainment. NB: If you haven't see this claymation version of a sitcom starring Beltre and Elvis Andrus, it's worth your two minutes. The Rangers do get Robinson Chirinos back from the DL, which is going to be a real confusion in the coatroom at Safeco when both of them reach for the hook labeled "Robinson C."

Luis Sardiñas was sent back to the warm bath of Tacoma where he can continue to unfurl from the capsule labeled GROW-AN-MLB PLAYER, which leaves Shawn O'Malley available to jump in wherever the Mariners may need him. Tonight's lineup also features a DHL start, which is usually a recipe for fun times. Let's hope Derek Holland makes a mistake pitch to DHL like he did to Nelson Cruz the last time he faced the Mariners (which was...June 5? Really? Ugh I am already sick of playing the Rangers).
ICYMI, I wrote something about Iwakuma's season so far that will definitely not be a harbinger of doom à la when I wrote about Evan Scribner or Justin De Fratus or Jesus Montero definitely not nope no curses in our house.
