6/1: Open Game Thread

What's up? Hello. Hi. Welcome to tonight's match up between the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres LIVE from Petco Park.

Obviously the big news today is that our beloved King, Felix Hernandez, is heading to the disabled list with a right calf strain. What's lost in all the commotion is that we miss our chance to watch Felix hit. I don't normally like to make bad news worse, but I'm also here to report facts.

In the absence of Felix, we are greeted with the return of James Paxton. Paxton seems to have found his fastball while he was down in Tacoma and put up some pretty solid numbers. You may notice that he lost a little weight, so he'll probably look a little more aerodynamic up there.

Yesterday was fun with all the dingers and the runs and the bonesawing, and here's to hoping that yesterday was not an isolated incident.
