Hello and welcome to tonight's match-up between the Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros. Taijuan Walker toes his custom Nikes to the rubber to oppose an old friend Doug Fister. This is the second time this season that they have faced each other so this is a rivalry as natural as Mariners and Padres at this point. The two former Tacoma Rainiers squared off on April 25th, that's almost two weeks ago! Some things have changed-
- The Mariners went from playing some alright baseball to playing some very good baseball. And they have built a 2.5 game lead over the Rangers for first place in the American League West.
- The Astros went in the other direction. They are sitting pretty at the bottom of the American League. Don't be upset, Astros fans, a house is only as good as its foundation, and the AL West has the nicest cellar in all of MLB.
- Kyle Seager is no longer hitting in the .130s! Seager has hit .324 in his last ten games and he worked his way hitting above the Florida Georgia Line (.190) and now is above the Mendoza line. He's heating up.
It is difficult to not feel great today, everybody. The Mariners are in first, it's Friday, the weekend looms and it's beautiful outside (if you are in the PNW). Crack open a Diesel (or whatever your beverage of choice might be) sit back and enjoy the journey game.
