After a day off and a long flight to Baltimore (and now back to Seattle, if you're poor Mayckol Guaipe) the Mariners are trying to play some baseball again. Unfortunately it is wet in the Charm City, and that has the chances of getting this game in balancing on The Wire. I, for one, will be very crabby if this game gets rained out. Not to the point of committing a Homicide, of course. But still, it would be a pretty big bummer. Ah well, that's just Life On The Streets, I guess.
The Orioles bring the the game's best home record into tonight's contest, and the Mariners have the best road record in the American League. It's the kind of matchup fit for a Serial drama, and you should do yourself a favor and read Jake's series preview.
Tonight the team throws Wade Miley, sadly not in "Big ass" Safeco Field, but in the diminutive spaces of Camden Yards. No, you're scared of Mark Trumbo. For the Orioles, whelming as hell Ubaldo Jiminez will bring his sinking fastball, lack of command, and 80-grade Pitch Face to the hill.
If the Mariners can squeak out a series win the remainder of May's schedule lines up for a strong finish to the month. But it won't be easy. Especially, y'know, if they get rained out.
