Taijuan Walker vs. Chris Archer

Good morning, and Happy Sweepsmas. This afternoon the first place Seattle Mariners will attempt to dust off the brooms against the Tampa Bay Rays. It's odd that they only sweep after winning all the games in a series. One would think that Safeco got quite dirty during all those years when sweeps were very rare affairs. But, it is Spring, and thus time to clean.

To assist the efforts of cleanliness the Mariners will throw young, exciting, and TOTALLY NOT INJURED AT ALL Taijuan Walker against Coco Crisp hairstyle enthusiast, thoughtful person, and similarly exciting talent Chris Archer. Archer's walks are up, and his ERA is higher than you'd expect, but there's little reason to think he's not the same pitcher who went toe to toe with then-still-very-good Felix Hernandez last May, before Nelson Cruz hit a floater.

It's arguably the best pitching matchup we've seen in the young season, it's sunny, and the Mariners appear to be a good to very good baseball team for the first time in many of their fans' memory. All is well*, because baseball is here.
