"The old bear had earned a name, through which ran not even a mortal animal but an anachronism, indomitable and invincible, out of an old dead time, a phantom, epitome and apotheosis of the old wild life at which the puny humans swarmed and hacked in a fury of abhorrence and fear...the old bear solitary, indomitable and alone, widowered, childless, and absolved of mortality-old Priam reft of his old wife and having outlived all his sons."

Well. How are we all doing today. I feel good. Excellent really. Before we dive in, let's start with the lineups:

Today's Lineups

SEATTLE MARINERS TEXAS RANGERS
Norichika Aoki - LF Delino DeShields Jr. - CF
Ketel Marte - SS Shin-Soo Choo - RF

Nelson Cruz - DH Adrian Beltre - 3B
Kyle Seager - 3B Mitch Moreland - 1B
Franklin Gutierrez - RF Ian Desmond - LF

Hisashi Iwakuma - RHP Martin Perez - LHP

Today is the second game of one-hundred and sixty-two games that the Seattle Mariners will play in the 2016 regular season. They lost their first game 3-2 and while that is sad, it isn't actually sad. There are much sadder things. The happy things are everywhere.

Baseball is back, like for real. And for the first time this regular season, we all get to sit back, watch some ball, and do so AFTER work and together. Now that is a nice thing.

The M's face lefty Martin Perez today in Texas and, now facing their second-lefty of the season, Dae-Ho Lee gets his first major league start. A huge congratulations to this large man and platoon partner of the relatively lost-looking Adam Lind.

Still no Seth Smith, due to the lefty thing, but Guti gets the start in right and Nellie moves to DH. It's a fun lineup, the kind you look at and see a lot of runs and crooked numbers.

On the hill for the M's steps The Bear, who will face a Rangers' lineup that managed just one hit yesterday. While we will expect better command than Felix managed in his first outing, Kuma is backed by a bullpen on plenty of rest thanks to MiMo carrying a nice load last night. Let's get back on track and back to .500 ball.

Tonight's Beverage:

St. Clemente Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2014, A Local Brewery's ESB, other beers.
