4/11: Open game thread

Hisashi Iwakuma Vs. Colby Lewis

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Hello, and welcome to another game thread at Lookout Landing. Tonight the Mariners kick off a series against the Rangers of Texas, who they whacked around pretty well in the ol' Lone Star just last week. Since then the Rangers have taken two out of three in an odd mid-season exhibition series with a semi-pro team just south of Los Angeles, and appear ready to rebound from the season's tough start.

The Mariners, on the other hand have introduced their face to the ground the first three games of the homestand, and after scoring FOUR RUNS in three games against Eric Surkamp, Rich Hill (who was awesome), and Chris Bassitt will look to actually hit the damn ball against Colby Lewis and his Dad Voodoo.

I am annoyed with this team, but unconcerned. It's a shame that in a series that saw more than 100,000 fans come to Safeco Field to be introduced the Mariners sang them the verse 30-something of Henry the Eighth, but in the end it's still only one series. Colby Lewis is the kind of pitcher who should get destroyed by a team seeing him for the second time in a week, and I'm hoping for a big offensive break out to get things back rolling.

Will it happen? I do not know because this is baseball and I am not an all-seeing, magical wizard. However, I can tell you I'm not putting too much stock in the first six games, and that today we had an excellent Fanpost from The Old Wisdom to remind you of how wacky small samples sizes can be.
