03/29: Open game thread

We are sitting on the verge of it now, and the weather is beckoning time to hasten its dallying ass up. It's perfect outside; a splendid, longish early spring night to throw, catch, swing, bask, and revel in the glories of the game of baseball.

The Mariners will acquiesce to the weather and the craving in my soul for baseball, but being mere mortals bound by time and geography they will play another exhibition game, and in Phoenix, AZ of all places. They should be here, with us, among us, at Safeco, running down red carpets, lining up on the 1st base line. It's cruel, and unfortunate that we are forced to wait almost one more full week with weather like this for games to matter.

Ah, well. It's still a hell of a lot better than this time a month ago, and Taijuan Walker and a mostly competent lineup are a decent tide over I suppose. It's perhaps Walker's penultimate start prior to toeing the rubber in Seattle one week from Friday at the Home Opener. I don't know about you, but it can't get here soon enough.
