Today, Taijuan Walker and a group of flu-drenched corpses will head over to Salt River Fields to take on the Colorado Rockies. Given the past couple of days, I'd be completely fine with throwing all of the Mariners into bubbles and locking them in Safeco until April 4th, but the thing about baseball is that it demands to be played in sickness and in health. To recap:
Flu still going around Mariners camp. Benoit sent home this am, Gutierrez here, still not in the lineup, Marte battling flu is in the lineup— Shannon Drayer (@shannondrayer) March 24, 2016
DJ Peterson hit in head by pickoff throw, left game. Plate ump hit by foul tip, going through concussion process w/ EMTs. Consecutive plays.— Mike Curto (@CurtoWorld) March 23, 2016
And now Marte is out of the lineup, scratched with the flu.— Shannon Drayer (@shannondrayer) March 24, 2016
Maybe the Mariners are getting all of the bad luck that inevitably arises over the course of a 162 game season out of the way in Spring. Maybe McKay gave them all the flu as some sort of team building exercise. Maybe the Angels did it. I don't know.
Moving on, here is your lineup for today:
Let us all hope the game goes better than yesterday.
