Carlos Rodon Vs. Vidal Nuno

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Well here we are. After last night's predictable bullpen meltdown and Chris Sale's fascist, strikeout filled performance. The Mariners will face Carlos Rodon, last year's number 3 overall draft pick. Hey the Mariners have a number 3 overall draft pick on their team tonight. Rodon, with his big fastball/slider combo from the left side isn't all that different from Chris Sale, at least conceptually. After last night it appears Rodon is feeling cocksure.

Rodon

The Mariners are, well they're just bad friends. After giving up as many runs in July (133) as they had given up in any month in two years Mariner run "prevention" is on pace to do something very similar in August. In fact with a few more catastrophic bullpen performances the team could exceed August 2013's 148 runs allowed as the most runs allowed in a month since 2008. It's the little things that get you through the dog days.

Last reminder if you've missed it elsewhere that a large contingent of LL will be in the Pen tonight and we would love to see you. We can talk about so many things.

Win, ya over ripe bananas.
