7/21: Open game thread

Taijuan Walker Vs. Shane Greene

Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Alright look the season is dwindling down to nothing, writing game threads in the middle of the work day is annoying and the stank of decay is beginning to waft from the front office, attracting the attention of scavengers. The season is starting to exact a significant toll of one kind or another on all who are participating in it.

However, Taijuan Walker is pitching today. Taijuan is the one that can give hope. With Felix inching ever more precipitously towards the outer boundaries of his prime, Cano and Cruz already well beyond them and Kyle Seager continuously bumping his adorable little noggin on a ceiling labeled "elite" it is Tai and Tai alone who's gaze finds a horizon without limits.

We've written about Walker's turnaround a few times the past month. In short, he's been really, really, good. He's not walking anyone and striking people out. While his last two starts haven't been as good as the preceding six that has a fair amount to do with the chuckleheads around him. Taijuan Walker can still be the greatest player this team has developed since Felix Hernandez. There are a lot of reasons to start to tune out the daily grind these days. But Tai's a good reason to check back in.

Win, ya silly nincompoops.
