Mike Montgomery vs Collin McHugh

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

There are a couple of ways we could do this. One would have us actually acknowledging that last night's game happened--easily the worst game I can remember during the past five years, right up there with Guti getting beaned in the head on a pickoff days after coming off the DL.

We could do that, or we could pretend that maybe like, the bullpen blew the lead in a 3-4 game after Felix left in which, I don't know, Mark Lowe had a fly ball out to Rickie Weeks who bobbled it three times or something, and then after coming up to win the game on even a sac fly he struck out so they finally DFA'd him. I like that one. Lets do that.

Of course, if you really want to, you could just pretend that nothing happened at all. No game. Day off in Texas, Nelson Cruz buying everyone a nice BBQ dinner with Tom giving a lecture on the finer points of adding bitters to drinks late into the night. See, the fun part about that option is that you can be excited about this afternoon's game, as the M's look to make a move against a cold Astros team before stealing a few free wins in his week's interleague series. I'll leave it up to you to decide which of these three options you choose, and while none are exactly wrong, I think you know which one is right.

Other things you need to know before today's game is that Rickie Weeks has been DFA'd and Danny Farquhar is back up in the bullpen for some reason, I'm not exactly sure why. It seems they feel their bullpen needs an extra arm or something. Altuve gets the day off for the Astros, which is nothing if not great news for the Mariners, and lastly, here's either my favorite or least favorite thing I've read on the internet today. You choose:

As the kids are saying these days, goms.
