J.A. Happ vs Shaun Marcum

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Today the Mariners look to....wait...sweep the Cleveland Indians? The same team that sunk the 2013 season? The same team that kept the 116 win season from breaking a record? The place that is second only to US Cellular as the most obnoxious place to watch the Seattle Mariners play baseball? And here I thought the season was over.

Counter J.A. Happ today will be Cleveland starter Shaun Marcum, pitching in what has been yet another season of struggle from the 33-year old righty. Marcum is 2-1 on the year, but he's walking more batters than he has since 2006, and he appears to have developed a bit of a home run problem, with a skyrocketing FIP (5.84!) and a consistently high xFIP (4.01). Of course, you know how that usually goes with this team, so I will stop talking about that right now.

Unfortunately, Cruz is still held out of the lineup with back pain, but if they are to be believed, it's nothing to be too worried about. And after the past couple of days, I'm actually inclined to believe them for once. So get the coffee and breakfast ready, and as usual, goms.
