Taijuan Walker vs James Shields

I'm very excited.
I'm very excited.
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Today the Seattle Mariners will look to complete the sweep of the San Diego Padres behind the presumably valiant efforts of their young ace-in-training Taijuan Walker. And yes that says sweep, and yes I know it's a two-game series. I know what you're thinking, "Two games isn't a TRUE sweep, Darryl."

And you know what I'm thinking?

"First of all, ONLY MY BEST FRIENDS GET TO CALL ME DARRYL IT'S NOT EVEN MY REAL NAME. Second, you must be absolutely unbearable at parties."

Seriously, stop talking to my roommates about how Tarantino deserves his "own genre" and come play some flip-cup. Jim hasn't even seen more than 3/4 of Basterds and I can tell from across the garage that you are absolutely sucking out his soul.

Have fun! This is a party! These are fun.

Today's Lineups

Abraham Almonte - LF Seth Smith - LF
Cory Spangenberg - 2B Brad Miller - DH
Matt Kemp - RF Robinson Cano - 2B
Justin Upton - DH Nelson Cruz - RF
Yangervis Solarte - 1B Kyle Seager - 3B
Derek Norris - C Logan Morrison - 1B
Will Venable - CF Mike Zunino - C
Will Middlebrooks - 3B Dustin Ackley - CF
Alexi Amarista - SS Chris Taylor - SS
James Shields - RHP Taijuan Walker - RHP

James Shields' has turned himself in to a bit of a home run problem lately, so let's hope that Nelson Cruz saved some of his infamous "BoomJelly" to rub on the bats of the rest of the lineup tonight. Last night the Mariners tied a club record with six home runs at Safeco. Tonight? Well, that's just up for them to decide and us to find out. Secretely, though, I already know what they decided.'s Sweepmas didn't you hear?

Could be another night of fireworks, french fries, and fun if all goes to plan!
