James Paxton Vs. Brandon McCarthy

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Mariners, baseball's "best-team-that's-lucky-as-hell-to-be-.500" start a three game series against the Dodgers, baseball's "most-talented-roster-that-weirdly-has-super-thin-starting-pitching". In case you missed it I highly recommend you make a habit of checking out Jake's Series Previews which are in-depth and have beautiful numbers, tables and other things the young people are into these days. They, and he, are great.

As for tonight's game we've got news of the BREAKING variety:

Scott has the breakdown here. Healthy recovery Herr Bartender.

Today's Lineups

SEATTLE MARINERS LOS ANGELES DODGERS
Dustin Ackley - CF Darwin Barney - SS
Seth Smith - LF Yasiel Puig - RF
Robinson Cano - 2B Adrian Gonzalez - 1B
Nelson Cruz - RF Howie Kendrick - 2B
Kyle Seager - 3B Scott Van Slyke - LF
Logan Morrison - 1B Alex Guerrero - 3B
Mike Zunino - C Joc Pederson - CF
Brad Miller - SS A.J. Ellis - C
James Paxton - LHP Brandon McCarthy - RHP

Oh ho ho that's a new lineup with all the raised din of concern, criticism and maybe even some happiness from a few. That's undoubtedly one of the stronger offensive lineups the team can go with (no Austin Jackson swinging a Nerf bat is a big plus) but the team should hope James Paxton's strong ground ball tendencies stay firm because I'm crunching the numbers here and the Mariners are rolling with......
