If you're the kind of person who likes to watch major sporting events in which you have no pre-existing rooting interest I imagine you generally do one of three things - The first is, through whichever arbitrary systems you chose picking a rooting interest. The second is to gamble. The third is to simply enjoy the spectacle and root for dramatics.
I tend to be one of the last types. I have no real predilection towards either the Mets or the Royals, nor a strong aversion to either as well. In this scenario what I want is great, tense, riveting baseball. And boy did game 1 ever give us that! Unfortunately for me I missed most of it to eat a hamburger and watch Matt Damon mix his waste in dirt on Mars to grow potatoes. While that was plenty enjoyable I certainly felt a pang of remorse having missed to much of what was, truly, one of the best World Series games of the era.
So tonight I'll be rooting for more of the same. Give my more inside-the-park homeruns, give my 9th inning comebacks, give me Bartolo Colon, give me Chris Young, I want it all and I want it now.
