Hello, loyal readers.
First, I want to thank you all for what has been another fantastic year at the helm of Lookout Landing. This community continues to grow and improve every single day. We've added some very talented writers, done some very cool interviews and features, and launched some shirts that I saw you guys wearing around Safeco Field. This role wouldn't be any fun if it weren't for the both positive and constructive feedback this community always provides, and I greatly appreciate that.
Before the season started, as my wife and I looked at our schedules, taking a vacation in September seemed like a pretty safe thing to do. It's not that I had zero faith in the Mariners to make something happen -- I had them pegged as a .500 team -- but I just didn't think they'd exactly be in the thick of a playoff race by the time I left. The plans started to expand and the vacation was booked, and now I'm set to be traveling around Europe with intermittent internet access for the stretch run of the most fun Mariners season in years.
It's a bittersweet feeling to be stepping away for a bit, but I've never been more confident about taking a hiatus with the writers we have in place. But missing the Mariners try to break a long-standing playoff drought is a real bummer.
When I'm gone, Nathan will be the acting managing editor. Any questions, concerns, or complaints can be directed to him until September 26th. The other editors -- Colin, Patrick, and Matt -- will all be more present than usual. We've got a plan for the final run, and I feel good about it. If you feel something is missing, or want to suggest changes, feel free to reach out to myself and Nathan and we'll do the best we can to remedy the situation. Even though this commenting community doesn't make up the majority of the readership, you are still the biggest voice, and that's important.
I'll be tweeting from @LookoutLanding as I can while I'm gone, watching condensed games and reading this very site from hotel rooms and trains with WiFi. And of course, every article will still be tweeted out from the main account. For reactionary, day to day stuff, please make sure to follow our editors, as well as the rest of the staff.
See you all on the other side, with a playoff spot secure the minute I touch down. Go M's.
