The Mariners will look to forget last night's shitshow of a baseball game by sending HIsashi Iwakuma to the mound to face the Astros this morning. Hopefully Kuma's recent struggles will prove to be a thing in the past, but if I've learned anything about following this team for the past however many years, its that there is a deep chasm between hopes and reality and it's big enough to fit the state of Missouri and all the cans of New Coke ever produced. So...let's score some runs today, huh?
Not much to say about the lineup other than Ackley being back in the two hole with a righty on the mound. Instead, I'll mention that Kansas City and Detroit will be playing at the same time as the M's today, and you should be cognizant of that. As well as the A's starting two hours afterward. Last night's loss may have been exactly the opposite of what a playoff-hunting team should aspire to, but they sure as hell chose the right day to do it.
