Taijuan Walker vs. Brad Peacock

Taijuan Walker: Anti-Dadgut.
Taijuan Walker: Anti-Dadgut.
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Mariners arrive in Houston to begin a 3 game series against a bad but not as bad as you think team that plays them annoyingly tough. On the mound for Seattle is Taijuan Walker, whose 2014 has glitched around like Vanellope Von Schweetz.

Since his callup Walker has been used exclusively in relief. Encouragingly that include 6 shutout innings in long relief on September 1st. Discouragingly that was against the A's, and even the crows can't find carrion on that corpse.

In SCOREBOARD WATCH tonight the Royals and Tigers start a gigantic 3 game series in Kansas City. First pitch at 5:10. In O.co.gov.org Coliseum the A's throw Jon Lester against the Phillies. The A's should definitely win that game. The A's will definitely lose that game.

Last night I sat on my couch and drank alone with the game on mute. It felt like having my entrails removed at a rate of half a foot an hour and then run over with a cheese grater. I would like to not do that again. Lloyd apparently agrees as Michael Saunders has been freed from his shackles. Some birds just aren't meant to be caged. Caw.

I would like to extend to the Mariners the theory of not only scoring runs but doing it often, preferably prior to the 9th inning with two outs. A win today and the team could very well be tied for a Wild Card with 9 games to go. Let's do that shall we?
