Felix Hernandez vs Joe Kelly

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Felix Day!

Today the King will look to start another streak of consecutive games where he pitches a lot of innings and gives up not a lot of runs, and he'll unfortunately have do it against the reigning World Champions. This rag-tag band of New England troublemakers have been having themselves a bit of an interesting season, though, dropping two of their previous three against these very same M's and looking quite different from the October warriors that surprised the world did a thing last year. Part of this, of course, is that they now have, what, like three people from that team and Yoenis Cespedes? Another part is that they are in rebuilding mode, and as we all know, Red Sox rebuilds last no more than four months at any given point in time. Must be fun. Fun for Felix, anyway, as long as this goes the way we all hope it does.

The M's bats will be looking to string something together against Joe Kelly, who was a key part of that John Lackey trade with the Cardinals back in July. The good news is that three Mariners have faced Kelly before from days in the National League, all with great success. But the bad news is that two of those players are Corey Hart and Willie Ballgame, so it looks like it will be a battle of the scouting report at Fenway Park this evening. Here's to another win streak and some gained ground in the Wild Card standings.

Go M's.
