  • The Mariners have finalized a deal with top Venezuelan prospect Bryan Hernandez.

  • Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports (through Rosenthal and Morosi) that the M's are interested in Red Sox ace Jon Lester.
  • Top Astros' pitching prospect Mark Appel was promoted after sporting a horrible ERA (over 9.00) and many Astros players are unhappy about it.
  • Eno Sarris of Fangraphs talks to Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel about the use of his breaking pitches.
  • The A's have placed outfielder Craig Gentry on the DL and called up young speedster Billy Burns in his place.
  • There was recently a huge brawl between two minor league teams which ended with a total of ten ejections.
  • For as bad as a Matt Kemp-to-Mariners trade could be, the Red Sox might be making an even worse offer.
  • Grant Brisbee, however, reasons that a Kemp-for-Lester trade might not be that crazy.
  • Meanwhile, the Rockies seem very reluctant to trade their star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
  • Following the news that broke about Chuck Knoblauch, Mike Bates thinks MLB needs to step up their efforts to stop domestic abuse.
