Roenis Elias vs Alex Cobb

Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Mariners look to rebound in game two of their series against the Rays today, sending Roenis Elias to the mound opposite Rays right-handed-head-injury-survivor Alex Cobb. It will be only Cobb's seventh start of the season, having missed most of May with a strained oblique, and Tampa Bay needs him: theirs is another story of a pitching staff sliced in pieces by injuries thankful for things like short visits to the 15-day DL. And in Cobb, that's just what they got.

Cobb's stuff is getting slowly better in his fourth season in the bigs, and while we could break everything down into what it means for the Mariners, you know they are either going to come out with their hands in their pants, or hitting everything, numbers be damned. We'll leave it up to them to figure out which one they want to do today. Lets see...yes, Endy Chavez leading off, Willie at first...Saunders sitting with a hurt shoulder and Kyle Seager batting cleanup. I dare you to complain. DARE, I SAY.
