MLB Draft day two: open thread

Open thread for round two of the MLB draft.

Rich Schultz

Now, we start looking for some gems. The picks will start coming in fast and furious now, with rounds 3-10 taking place today. MLB Network isn't broadcasting the picks live any more, but the MLB.com stream generally does a good job at giving some insight as these players start to get a bit more obscure. There's a ton of talent in these rounds, and the Mariners have done a great job selecting them in recent years.

Here's some notable current and former Mariners who were selected in the years past of today's rounds.

3rd round: Kyle Seager, Edwin Diaz, Tyler Pike, Carter Capps, Willie Bloomquist, Dave Fleming, Phil Bradley

4th round: James Paxton, James Jones, Patrick Kivlehan, Rob Johnson, Desi Relaford

5th round: Chris Taylor, Stephen Pryor, Mark Lowe, Bret Boone

6th round: Lance Lynn (did not sign), J.J. Putz, Mike Hampton, Alvin Davis

7th round: Doug Fister, John Axford (did not sign)

8th round: Willie Bloomquist (did not sign), Jabari Blash, Tyler Smith, Carson Smith

9th - 10th round: Good luck.

The Mariners really, really, really like Willie Bloomquist.
