MLB Draft day one open thread

New, comments

The MLB Draft begins at 4 p.m. PST on MLB Network and live streaming on MLB.com.

Today represents the first two rounds of the MLB draft, and the Mariners have two selections. First at #6, and then the last pick of the day at #74. The team lost a pick in the middle when they signed Robinson Cano, and they lost another they were supposed to get when Kendrys Morales decided was forced to take an extended vacation.

If you missed it earlier, here's how to watch the draft today, tomorrow, and Saturday. We'll have individual threads for each day for those of you who like to follow along. There's also links to five player previews that we've done over the past few weeks.

Nobody seems to know exactly who the Mariners are going to take, but C/OF Alex Jackson is the name most commonly connected at this point, though there are doubts as to whether he'll fall that far. He's also, by simple deduction, the name LL is throwing their hat behind, because wildly unpredictable prep bats offer way more fantasy futures than a polished college arm like Aaron Nola.
