Erasmo Ramirez vs. Jake Peavy.

Denis Poroy

It almost seems a shame to play the Red Sox again following last night's 12-3 drubbing. You can't end on a higher note than that.

Nevertheless, the Mariners are sending out Erasmo Ramirez to battle for the series win against right-hander Jake Peavy. Peavy is 1-5 this season, having dropped three of his last four starts with 28 hits, 14 runs, and seven walks in 25 2/3 innings. During a rough loss to Baltimore earlier this month, the 33-year-old relinquished three home runs over seven innings, one home run shy of his career-high total. Behind him, the Red Sox have been of little use, putting up a scant four runs over his last three starts. Peavy has not been credited with a win since April 25.
