Felix Hernandez vs. David Phelps

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

If you ever wondered what a series would be like where the opposing team only gets to face Felix Hernandez, today's your lucky day. Felix, as in he's ours and you can't have him, gets to face the Yankees in a one game series. The Yankees, as in he's ours and you can't have him so fuck you very much baseball media and New York City (the kind folks at Pinstripe Alley and Amazin' Avenue excluded).

Felix squares off in today's makeup game against David Phelps, who the Mariners were interested in trading for earlier in the year. The Yankees have to be happy they didn't, as he's held together the Yankees rotation while Michael Pineda has been injured/covered with pine tar.

Robinson Cano is back in the lineup after missing four games, and James Jones settles in back at leadoff after being removed for precautinary reasons against Detroit with some groin soreness. It's a homecoming of sorts for Jones, who grew up and went to college just across the bridge in Brooklyn.

Sunshine everywhere and forever. Lead them back over .500, King.
