Getaway game time. If you managed to listen to Jay Buhner and Mike Blowers yuck it up on the ROOT broadcast last night, they reminisced about umpires telling them they better swing away on days like today, because everyone wants to get on that plane and get out of dodge. Big ol' zones. If you feel like getaway games feel like pitcher's duels more often than not, maybe it's because umpires want it to be that way. Or, from now on, it'll just be confirmation bias whenever there's a low scoring affair. You're welcome!
Jesus Montero is back in the lineup, this time against a lefty, and he's playing first base. The horror. Reports on Montero at first in Tacoma were less than favorable, but for some reason he'll be manning the station today. Not good enough to play first (John Buck did for the first time in his career) after Morrison's self-inflicted duel with a bat, but good enough to start today. Ok!
