Roenis Elias vs. Chase Whitley.

USA TODAY Sports

Everyone's favorite baserunner is back.

For the immediate future, it looks like the Mariners have disregarded Logan's advice to look for external options in lieu of Michael Saunders' shoulder injury. Jesus Montero has packed his bags for Seattle and will be available as soon as this evening. From various reports, it appears that he will be stepping in as DH and filling lineup gaps against lefties. Montero is unlikely to see much, if any, time at first base.

Montero batted .270/.345/.455 with eight home runs, 24 extra bases, and 26 walks over 59 games with the Tacoma Rainiers, but as Ryan Divish pointed out earlier today, his home/road splits heavily favor away parks. This may be a sensible decision given the M's current options, but it's hardly one to get excited about.

Come back soon, Saunders.
