Roenis Elias vs Garrett Richards

Lisa Blumenfeld

With the Paxton news comes a subtle reminder that oh, yeah, there is more baseball to be played. Tonight the M's face Angels RHP Garrett Richards, who is pitching in his fourth season in the bigs. Richards has shuffled around the bullpen and rotation since getting drafted 42nd overall in 2009, and has been kind of all over the board statistically since. His rookie-year 6.95 FIP has obviously gone down in the years since, and he put up 1.5 WAR for the Halos last year. He also owned a double digit HR/FB rate so if there is any time to throw him out on the mound it's absolutely in Seattle in April when it's 50 degrees. Here's to hoping that isn't the story, but who knows with this year.

Also Roenis! Hopefully a real strike zone!
