Last night's game was difficult to watch. It was no blown save by Brandon League or 16-9 monstrosity by Brandon Maurer, but it didn't have to be. Seven losses in a row is tough to take. Nine losses in 10 games is downright brutal.
Following such a game, we can be assured of several things: First, that Felix Hernandez will continue to be an outstanding pitcher, even with the occasional off day; second, that Mike Zunino's foul ball actually touched the moon (or at the very least, the roof); and third, that there are still 143 games left to redeem this season. It may be pointless to drum up any kind of optimism in the face of back-to-back series losses to two of baseball's worst teams, but it would be equally pointless to give up on the season in mid-April.
