James Paxton vs. Travis Banwart

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Another day, another crushing victory for the Mariners in the Cactus League, also known as "The League of Leagues".  Today, a battle for League of Leagues supremacy against the second place Indians, half a game behind the Mariners in the standings and the only team to actually defeat the Mariners this season.  A bloody rivalry, a hotly anticipated rematch, what more could you want?

The Indians trot out their A squad which includes Frenchy Francouer, some other guys, and also Nyjer Morgan.  They are not taking this important match up lightly.

The Mariners, also taking it very seriously, take it way too seriously and start almost all of their probable opening day starters (Minus Corey Hart, and depending on how real you think the Miller/Franklin SS battle is).  That was a trick, there is no such thing as taking the Cactus League too seriously, it counts.

In other news, the Mariners made a series of cuts today.  Ryan Divish has the details of the 13 cuts as the Mariners trim the roster to 55.  Danny Hultzen, Andrew Carraway, Chance Ruffin, and most importantly, Burt Reynolds are all on their way to minor league camp and or AAA/AA.

Game info

  • Mariners vs. Indians, 12:05 p.m. PST
  • Kyle Seager came back and is playing again today.  You doubters can cut it out now.
  • Shannon Drayer says you can listen to the replay on a delay and you can probably not but maybe listen or watch at MLB.com, but I don't think you can.  UPDATE: Thanks Cascadian Man for pointing out that you can hear the audio if you log into MLB.com.
