Game 163: Open game thread

The Rays and the Rangers in a one-game playoff to get into a one-game playoff.

J. Meric

The Mariners season may be over, but there's plenty of exciting baseball left, including tonight. The Rays and Rangers are tied for the final Wild Card spot, and tonight they'll face off to see who plays Cleveland tomorrow. I generally hate the new one game Wild Card format for playoff teams that earned it outright, but this is the kind of one-game playoff that I love. "Everybody scores!" Fortunately, there aren't any huge discrepancies in records between the AL Wild Card teams this year, but it's going to suck when a 100 win team is forced to play a one-game playoff against an 88 win team in the first round. Enough gripes about it being unfair. It's still entertaining, and that's why it exists.

Go Rays.
