Change is coming. Tacoma ends their season today, and earlier today our own Rick Randall broke the news that James Paxton would be among the call-ups. We'll have more on that when the full batch gets announced, but there's already one surprise on the way. Paxton isn't on the 40-man roster, so that chews up another spot before the offseason begins.
Today it's King Felix going up against Danny Duffy in a Labor Day spectacle. The Royals have come back to earth, and while they've put together a respectable 70-66 season (and an amazing mid-season hot streak), it probably isn't what they had in mind when they dealt Wil Myers, is it?
Maybe I'm going crazy, but it seems like Felix Hernandez has pitched in more day games than any pitcher in the history of baseball this season. It's almost certainly not true, but that's my impression and I'm sticking with it, so deal with it.
Pregame discussion:
Are you traveling back from somewhere today? I hate traveling on Labor Day because the traffic is always awful on Friday and Monday. If you're not traveling today, where is your next trip?
