Erasmo Ramirez v. Shelby Miller

USA TODAY Sports

Let's get this out in the open right now: there's a very real possibility that this is the least cared about Mariners game of the year. The Seahawks play the 49ers, in primetime, in a game everyone's been looking forward to all offseason and the Mariners play a contending team on the other side of the country in the middle of the full daytime NFL slate. I acknowledge this.

But, please, don't be the "lololol, they still play baseball games after football starts?" guy. Man, that guy is awful and painfully unoriginal.

In today's matchup, it's Erasmo Ramirez vs. Shelby Miller. Erasmo hasn't been quite what we'd like him to be, that sure #3 with the potential to miss a lot of bats. Instead, here's there with a 4.23 xFIP. At this point, I wouldn't be so quick to pencil him into a rotation spot for 2014 as the young guys may give him quite a push. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him earn one of those spots but there are no guarantees right now.

In the lineup, Dustin Ackley bats leadoff and plays second base as Nick Franklin sits another day. I'm sure this is brought up all the time, but remember when Nick Franklin was Kyle Seager? That was a trip.

Lineups:

1. Dustin Ackley (L) 2B

2. Abraham Almonte (S) CF
